حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَنَمًا بَيْنَ جَبَلَيْنِ ، فَأَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ ، فَأَتَى قَوْمَهُ فَقَالَ : أَيْ قَوْمِ أَسْلِمُوا ، فَوَاللَّهِ إِنَّ مُحَمَّدًا لَيُعْطِي عَطَاءً مَا يَخَافُ الْفَقْرَ فَقَالَ أَنَسٌ : إِنْ كَانَ الرَّجُلُ لَيُسْلِمُ مَا يُرِيدُ إِلاَّ الدُّنْيَا ، فَمَا يُسْلِمُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ الإِسْلاَمُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَمَا عَلَيْهَا.
It was narrated from Anas that a man asked the Prophet (s.a.w) for a large number of sheep and he gave them to him. He went to his people and said: “O people, become Muslim, for by Allah, Muhammad (s.a.w) gives as if he does not fear want.” Anas said: “If a man became Muslim seeking nothing but worldly gain, as soon as he became Muslim, Islam would become dearer to him tan this world and everything in it.”
