Sahih Muslim Book - 38, Hadith - 5586
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، قَالَ أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، قَالاَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ يَعْنِيَانِ الْفَزَارِيَّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : نَادَى رَجُلٌ رَجُلاً بِالْبَقِيعِ يَا أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ فَالْتَفَتَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، إِنِّي لَمْ أَعْنِكَ إِنَّمَا دَعَوْتُ فُلاَنًا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : تَسَمَّوْا بِاسْمِي وَلاَ تَكَنَّوْا بِكُنْيَتِي.
It was narrated that Anas said: "A man called out to another man in Al-Baqi': 'O Abul-Qasim!' The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) turned to him. (But) he said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I did not mean you; I was calling so-and-so.' The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'You may call yourselves by my name but do not call yourselves by my Kunyah."'
