Sahih Muslim Book - 6, Hadith - 1571
وَحَدَّثَنِى أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ وَحَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِى عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِىِّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- قَالَتْ فَرَضَ اللَّهُ الصَّلاَةَ حِينَ فَرَضَهَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَتَمَّهَا فِى الْحَضَرِ فَأُقِرَّتْ صَلاَةُ السَّفَرِ عَلَى الْفَرِيضَةِ الأُولَى.
It was narrated from 'Urwah bin Az-Zubair that 'Aishah, the wife of the Prophet (s.a.w), said: "When Allah enjoined the prayer it was two Rak'ah, then it was completed for the resident, but the prayer for the traveling was confirmed as it was first enjoined."
