حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِى شَيْبَةَ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ - وَاللَّفْظُ لأَبِى بَكْرٍ - قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَلِىٍّ قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لَكَ تَنَوَّقُ فِى قُرَيْشٍ وَتَدَعُنَا فَقَالَ « وَعِنْدَكُمْ شَىْءٌ ». قُلْتُ نَعَمْ بِنْتُ حَمْزَةَ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « إِنَّهَا لاَ تَحِلُّ لِى إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَخِى مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ ».
It was narrated that 'Ali said: "I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, why do you insist on choosing a wife from among the Quraish and you ignore us?' He said: 'Have you anything to suggest?' I said: 'Yes, the daughter of Hamzah.' The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'She is not permissible for me (to marry), for she is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding."
