It was narrated that 'Alqamah said: "I was walking with Abdullah bin Mas'ud in Mina when he was met by Uthman bin Affan who said: 'Come here, O Abu Abdur Rahman,' He took him aside, and when Abdullah saw that there was no need for that, he said to me: 'Come here, O 'Alqamah,' So I came. Uthman said to him: 'Shall we not marry you, O Abu Abdur Rahman, to a young virgin hoping that you might regain some of that which you had in the past?' Abdullah said: 'If you are telling me that..."" and he mentioned a Hadith similar to that of Abu Mu'awiyah (no.3398).
"When a person dies, his works end, except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge that is benefited from, and a righteous child who prays for him."
Prophet Mohammed (PBUH)
"The best of what a man leaves behind are three: a righteous child who supplicates for him, ongoing charity the reward of which reaches him, and knowledge that is acted upon after him."
Sunan Ibn Mājah
"Every day two angels come down from Heaven and one of them says, 'O Allah! Compensate every person who spends in Your Cause,' and the other (angel) says, 'O Allah! Destroy every miser.'"
Sahih Bukhari
