Sahih Muslim Book - 15, Hadith - 3048
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِى شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِى حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- كَانَ إِذَا طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ الطَّوَافَ الأَوَّلَ خَبَّ ثَلاَثًا وَمَشَى أَرْبَعًا وَكَانَ يَسْعَى بِبَطْنِ الْمَسِيلِ إِذَا طَافَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ.
It was narrated from Ibn Umar that when the Messenger of Allah (SAW) circumambulated the Kabah in the first Tawaf, he would walk rapidly in three circuits, and at a normal place in (the remaining) four. When he went between As-Safa and Al-Marwah, he ran in the bottom of the valley, and Ibn Umar did likewise.
