Sahih Muslim Book - 15, Hadith - 2940

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ - رضى الله عنه - ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى - وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِى الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- مُهِلِّينَ بِالْحَجِّ مَعَنَا النِّسَاءُ وَالْوِلْدَانُ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ طُفْنَا بِالْبَيْتِ وَبِالصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَقَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- « مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَعَهُ هَدْىٌ فَلْيَحْلِلْ ». قَالَ قُلْنَا أَىُّ الْحِلِّ قَالَ « الْحِلُّ كُلُّهُ ». قَالَ فَأَتَيْنَا النِّسَاءَ وَلَبِسْنَا الثِّيَابَ وَمَسِسْنَا الطِّيبَ فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ التَّرْوِيَةِ أَهْلَلْنَا بِالْحَجِّ وَكَفَانَا الطَّوَافُ الأَوَّلُ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ فَأَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- أَنْ نَشْتَرِكَ فِى الإِبِلِ وَالْبَقَرِ كُلُّ سَبْعَةٍ مِنَّا فِى بَدَنَةٍ.

It was narrated that Jabir bin Abdullah said: “We set out with the Messenger of Allah (SAW), entering Ihram for Hajj, and the women and children were with us. When we came to Makkah, we circumambulated the House and went between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. Then the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to us: ‘Whoever does not have a sacrificial animal with him, let him exit Ihram.’ We said: ‘To what extent?’ He said: ‘Completely.’ So we had intercourse with our wives, and we wore our regular clothes, and put on perfume. When the day of At-Tarwiyah came, we entered Ihram for Hajj, and our first going between As-Safa and Al-Marwah sufficed for us. The Messenger of Allah (SAW) ordered us to share camels and cows, one (animal) between seven of us.”
