حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنِى أَبِى عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِى كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ - رضى الله عنها - قَالَتْ لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فِى الشَّهْرِ مِنَ السَّنَةِ أَكْثَرَ صِيَامًا مِنْهُ فِى شَعْبَانَ وَكَانَ يَقُولُ « خُذُوا مِنَ الأَعْمَالِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَنْ يَمَلَّ حَتَّى تَمَلُّوا ». وَكَانَ يَقُولُ « أَحَبُّ الْعَمَلِ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَا دَاوَمَ عَلَيْهِ صَاحِبُهُ وَإِنْ قَلَّ ».
It was narrated that ‘Aishah [may Allah be pleased with her] said: “The Messenger of Allah did not fast more in any month of the year than he did in Sha’ban, and he used to say: ‘Take on as much deeds as you are able to, for Allah does not grow weary but you do.’ And he used to say: ‘The dearest of deeds to Allah are those that a person does regularly, even if they are small.’”’
