Sahih Muslim Book - 12, Hadith - 2487

حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ - رضى الله عنها - قَالَتْ كَانَتْ فِى بَرِيرَةَ ثَلاَثُ قَضِيَّاتٍ كَانَ النَّاسُ يَتَصَدَّقُونَ عَلَيْهَا وَتُهْدِى لَنَا فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِىِّ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- فَقَالَ « هُوَ عَلَيْهَا صَدَقَةٌ وَلَكُمْ هَدِيَّةٌ فَكُلُوهُ ».

It was narrated that Aishah [may Allah pleased with her] said: “Three rulings were issued with regard to Barirah. The people used to give her charity, and she would give it to us as gifts. I mentioned that to the Prophet (SAW) and he said: ‘It is charity for her and a gift for you, so eat it.’”
