Enemy in Jihad, to the

33 : 15

Even though they had made covenant with Allah not to show theirbacks, and the covenant with Allah must surely be answered for.

33 : 16

Tell them: "Running away will not do you any good, and if you arerunning away from death or being killed, you would enjoy thislife only a little while."

Backbiting

Backbiting

49 : 12

O believers! Avoid immoderate suspicion, for in some casessuspicion is a sin. Do not spy on one another, nor backbite oneanother (to say something about another behind ones back that ifone hears it, dislikes it). Would any of you like to eat theflesh of his dead brother? Surely you would abhor it. Fear Allah;for Allah is the Accepter of repentance, Merciful.

104 : 1

Woe to every slanderer and defamer,

104 : 2

who amasses wealth and keeps on counting it.

104 : 3

He thinks that his wealth will insure his status forever!

104 : 4

By no means! He shall be thrown into Hotamah.

104 : 5

What will make you understand what Hotamah is?

104 : 6

It is the fire kindled to a blaze by Allah Himself.

104 : 7

The one which will rise right to the hearts,

104 : 8

closing in upon them from every side

104 : 9

in outstretched columns.

Backing Out

Jihad, from

47 : 20

The believers were asking: "Why is not a Surah revealed allowingus to fight?" But when a decisive Surah carrying the order ofallowing them to fight is revealed, you saw those in whose heartswas a disease looking at you like the one under the shadow ofdeath. Woe to them!

47 : 21

On their tongues is the promise of obedience and good talk, so ifthey would have proved their promise with Allah when the finalcommand was given, it would have been better for them.

47 : 22

Now what can be expected of you if you are put in authority, other than to do evil in the land and violate the ties of blood.

47 : 23

Such are those whom Allah has cursed and made them deaf andblinded their sight.

47 : 24

Will they not ponder upon the Qur'an? Are there locks upon theirhearts?

Backsliding

Children of Israel from their covenant with Allah, by the

2 : 83

Remember, We took a covenant (firm commitment) from the childrenof Israel: "You shall worship none but Allah; be good to yourparents, relatives, orphans and destitute, speak fair to thepeople, establish 'Salah', and pay 'Zakah.'" But you broke thecovenant, except a few of you, and you paid no heed.

Bad

Good things, and

5 : 100

Tell them, "Bad and good are not equal, even though the abundanceof the bad may dazzle you; so fear Allah, O people ofunderstanding, that you may prosper!"

Badr

Badr (battle of)

3 : 13

Indeed there was a sign (lesson) for you in the two armies whichmet on the battlefield (of Badr): one was fighting for the causeof Allah and the other had rejected Allah; the believers saw withtheir own eyes that the unbelievers were twice their number. Butthe result of the battle proved that Allah strengthens with Hisown aid whom He pleases. Surely there is a lesson in this forthose who have sight.

lesson of

8 : 5

Your Rabb ordered you to leave your home to fight for justice, but some of the believers were reluctant.

8 : 42

Remember when you were on this side of the valley and they on thefarther side, and the caravan was on lower ground than you both.If you had made a mutual appointment to fight, you would havecertainly failed; but Allah sought to accomplish what He hasordained, that those who were destined to perish might die byclear proof and those who were destined to live might survive byclear proof. Surely, Allah is He Who hears all and knows all.

2 : 188

Do not misappropriate one another's property unjustly, nor bribethe judges, in order to misappropriate a part of other people'sproperty, sinfully and knowingly.

42 : 17

It is Allah Who has revealed this Book (Al-Qur'an) with thetruth, and the Balance (to distinguish between right and wrong). What will make you realize that perhaps the hour of doom may befast approaching.

55 : 7

Then you shall be divided into three groups:

55 : 7

He has raised the heaven on high and created the balance:

57 : 25

Surely We sent Our Rasools with clear signs, and sent down withthem the Book and the Scales of Justice, so that men may conductthemselves with fairness. We also sent down Iron, with its mightystrength and diverse uses for mankind, so that Allah may knowthose who will help Him, though unseen, and help His Rasools.Surely Allah is All-Powerful, All-Mighty.

Therefore, you also establish weight with justice and do not give less measure.

Good deeds, of

101 : 6

On that Day, he whose scale of good deeds is heavy,

101 : 7

shall live a pleasant luxurious life.

But he whose scale of good deeds is light

Weighing conduct by that of the Quran

It is Allah Who has revealed this Book (Al-Qur'an) with thetruth, and the Balance (to distinguish between right and wrong). What will make you realize that perhaps the hour of doom may befast approaching.

Banishing

Own people from their homes, one's

2 : 84

Also remember another covenant which We took from you: That youshall not shed blood among yourselves and you shall not expelyour own people from your homes; you confirmed it and you arewitness to it.

2 : 85

Yet there you are, killing your own people, expelling a groupamongst you from their homes, backing each other with sin andaggression; and if they come to you as captives, you trade themfor ransoms whereas their expulsion was unlawful for you to beginwith. Do you believe in a part of your Holy Book and reject therest? So what other punishment do such people among you, whobehave like this, deserve, than disgrace in this world and to bedriven to grievous punishment on the Day of Judgment? Allah isnot unaware of what you do.

2 : 86

Such are the people who trade the life of this world at theexpense of the Hereafter; so neither their punishment shall belightened nor shall they be helped.

Wives to beds apart

4 : 34

Men are overseers over women because Allah has given the one morestrength than other, and because men are required to spend theirwealth for the maintenance of women. Honorable women are, therefore, devoutly obedient and guard in the husband's absencewhat Allah require them to guard their husband's property andtheir own honor. As to those women from whom you feardisobedience, first admonish them, then refuse to share your bedwith them, and then, if necessary, beat them. Then if they obeyyou, take no further actions against them and do not make excusesto punish them. Allah is Supremely Great and is aware of youractions.

Banu Nadhir

Banu Nadhir

59 : 2

It is He Who drove the disbelievers from among the People of theBook (reference is to the Jewish tribe of Banu Al-Nadir) out oftheir homes at the first banishment. You did not think that theywould ever go out; and they thought that their fortresses woulddefend them from Allah, but the wrath of Allah came to them fromwhere they never expected - which casted such terror into theirhearts - that they destroyed their homes by their own hands aswell as by the hands of the believers. So learn a lesson fromthis example! O the people of insight.

59 : 3

Had Allah not decreed exile for them, He would certainly havepunished them in this world, and in the hereafter there shall bethe punishment of the fire for them,

59 : 4

because they set themselves up against Allah and His Rasool; andhe that set himself up against Allah should know that Allah isstern in retribution.

Bargain of Jihad The

Rejoicing in

9 : 111

Indeed Allah has purchased from the believers their persons andtheir wealth and in return has promised them paradise; they fightin the cause of Allah and slay and are slain. This is a truepromise which is binding on Him mentioned in Taurat (Torah), theInjeel (Gospel) and the Qur'an; and who is more true infulfilling his promise than Allah? Rejoice, therefore, in thebargain which you have made, and that is a mighty achievement.

Barren Women

Iddat for

65 : 4

If you have any doubt concerning those of your wives who haveceased menstruating, then you should know that their waitingperiod will be three months, and the same will apply to those whohave no menstruation due to young age or a disease. As for thosewho are pregnant, their waiting period will end with delivery.Allah will ease the hardship of those who fear Him.

65 : 5

This is the command of Allah which He has sent down to you. Hethat fears Allah, will have his sins removed and his rewardenlarged.

so that I may do good deeds in the world that I have leftbehind." Never! This is just a statement which carries no value,it will be too late because there will be a barrier between themand the world they have just left till the Day they are raised tolife again.

25 : 53

He is the One Who has made the two seas rolling, the one sweetand fresh, the other salt and bitter, and set a rampart betweenthem, an insurmountable barrier.

55 : 20

They shall have fruits of their own choice

55 : 20

Yet, between them is a barrier which they cannot cross.

Neither yield to any mean oath-monger,

68 : 11

mischief making slanderer,

68 : 12

opponent of good, transgressor,

68 : 13

wicked oppressor, and above all, ignoble by birth,

68 : 14

Bathing

Salaat, before

5 : 6

O believers! When you rise up for Salah (prayer), wash your facesand your hands as far as the elbows, wipe your heads with wethands and wash your feet to the ankles. If you had an emission ofsemen, then take a full bath. However, if you are sick or on ajourney or you have used the toilet or you had intercourse withyour women (your wife) and you do not find any water then resortto Tayammum - find clean soil and rub your faces and hands withit. Allah does not wish to burden you; He only wishes to purifyyou and to perfect His favor upon you, so that you may bethankful.

Battle

Cowardice in

33 : 15

Even though they had made covenant with Allah not to show theirbacks, and the covenant with Allah must surely be answered for.

33 : 16

Tell them: "Running away will not do you any good, and if you arerunning away from death or being killed, you would enjoy thislife only a little while."

33 : 17

Ask them: "Who can protect you from Allah if He intends to harmyou or who can prevent Him if He intends to show you mercy?" Theywill find none besides Allah to protect or help them.

33 : 18

Allah is well aware of those among you who hold others back andthose who say to their brethren: "Join us," and seldom take partin the fighting themselves.

33 : 19

They are ever reluctant to assist you. Whenever they are indanger, they look towards you with their eyes rolling as thoughthey were at the point of death, but when they are out of danger, they will come to greet you with their sharp tongues in greed forgain. Such people have no faith. Allah has made all their deedsnull and void, and this is easy for Allah.

33 : 20

They thought that the confederates would never withdraw. Indeed,if the confederates should come again, they would wish to beamong the beduins and seek news about you from a safe distance;and if they happened to be with you, they would take but a littlepart in the fighting.

Flinching from death in
