Ash-'Sha'bi asked me, "Did you notice how Al-Hasan used to narrate Hadiths from the Prophet? I stayed with Ibn 'Umar for about two or one-and-a-half years and I did not hear him narrating anything from the Prophet except his (Hadith). He (Ibn 'Umar) said, "Some of the companions of the Prophet including Sa'd, were going to eat meat, but one of the wives of the Prophet called them, saying, 'It is the meat of a Mastigure.' The people then stopped eating it. On that Allah's Apostle said, 'Carry on eating, for it is lawful.' Or said, 'There is no harm in eating it, but it is not from my meals.' "
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) used to place his righthand on his left hand, then he folded them strictly on his chestin prayer.
I said to Ibn 'Abbas, "The people are narrating that the Prophet said, 'Take a bath on Friday and wash your heads (i.e. take a thorough bath) even though you were not Junub and use perfume'." On that Ibn 'Abbas replied, "I know about the bath, (i.e. it is essential) but I do not know about the perfume (i.e. whether it is essential or not.)"
Ibn 'Abbas mentioned the statement of the Prophet regarding the taking of a bath on Friday and then I asked him whether the Prophet (p.b.u.h) had ordered perfume or (hair) oil to be used if they could be found in one's house. He (Ibn 'Abbas) replied that he did not know about it.
Ibn 'Abbas said, "Allah's Apostle set out from Medina to Mecca and he fasted till he reached 'Usfan, where he asked for water and raised his hand to let the people see him, and then broke the fast, and did not fast after that till he reached Mecca, and that happened in Ramadan." Ibn 'Abbas used to say, "Allah's Apostle (sometimes) fasted and (sometimes) did not fast during the journeys so whoever wished to fast could fast, and whoever wished not to fast, could do so."
Ibn 'Abbas said, "Allah's Apostle forbade the selling of foodstuff before its measuring and transferring into one's possession." I asked Ibn 'Abbas, "How is that?" Ibn 'Abbas replied, "It will be just like selling money for money, as the foodstuff has not been handed over to the first purchaser who is the present seller."
Ibn 'Abbas said, "Allah's Apostle said, 'Do not go to meet the caravans on the way (for buying their goods without letting them know the market price); a town dweller should not sell the goods of a desert dweller on behalf of the latter.' " I asked Ibn 'Abbas, "What does he mean by not selling the goods of a desert dweller by a town dweller?" He said, "He should not become his broker."
I asked Ibn 'Abbas, "What is the meaning of, 'No town dweller should sell (or buy) for a desert dweller'?" Ibn 'Abbas said, "It means he should not become his broker."
Ibn 'Abbas said, "The Prophet forbade the meeting of caravans (on the way) and ordained that no townsman is permitted to sell things on behalf of a bedouin." I asked Ibn 'Abbas, "What is the meaning of his saying, 'No townsman is permitted to sell things on behalf of a bedouin.' " He replied, "He should not work as a broker for him."
That he was told by the most learned one amongst them (i.e. Ibn Abbas) that the Prophet went towards some land which was flourishing with vegetation and asked to whom it belonged. He was told that such and such a person took it on rent. The Prophet said, "It would have been better (for the owner) if he had given it to him gratis rather than charging him a fixed rent.
Ibn 'Abbas recited the Quranic Verse: "+96
Except to be kind to me for my kin-ship to you..." (42.23) Said bin Jubair said, "(The verse implies) the kinship of Muhammad." Ibn 'Abbas said, "There was not a single house (i.e. sub-tribe) of Quraish but had a kinship to the Prophet and so the above verse was revealed in this connection, and its interpretation is: 'O Quraish! You should keep good relation between me (i.e. Muhammad) and you.' "
Ibn Abbas said, "Allah's Apostle travelled in the month of Ramadan and he fasted till he reached (a place called) 'Usfan, then he asked for a tumbler of water and drank it by the daytime so that the people might see him. He broke his fast till he reached Mecca." Ibn Abbas used to say, "Allah's Apostle fasted and sometimes did not fast while traveling, so one may fast or may not (on journeys)"
Tawus told in mursal form that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked who had the most beautiful voice for the Qur'an and whose recitation was most beautiful he replied, 'The one whom you think when you hear him recite that he fears Allah." Tawus added that Talq was like that.
Darimi transmitted it.
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "If anyone cultivates barren land it belongs to him, but ancient property belongs to Allah and His Messenger and then comes to you from me."
Shafi'i transmitted it in Mursal form.
Tha'labah heard his elders say that a man from the Quraysh hadhis share with Banu Qurayzah (in water). He brought the disputeto the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) about al-Mahzur, astream whose water they shared together. The Apostle of Allah(peace be upon him) then decided that when water reached theankles waters should not be held back to flow to the lower.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) stood and gave a sermon;he commanded to give sadaqah, at the end of Ramadan when thefasting is closed, one sa' of dried dates or of barley payable byevery person. The narrator Ali added in his version: "or one sa'of wheat to be taken from every two." Both the chains ofnarrators are then agreed upon the version: "payable by young andold, freeman and slave."
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) said: One sa' of wheatis to be taken from every two, young or old, freeman or slave,male or female. Those of you who are rich will be purified byAllah, and those of you who are poor will have more than theygave returned by Him to them. Sulayman added in his version:"rich or poor"
Anas said, "The Prophet asked for water and a tumbler with a broad base and not so deep, containing a small quantity of water, was brought to him whereby he put his fingers in it." Anas further said, "noticed the water springing out from amongst his fingers." Anas added, "estimated that the people who performed ablution with it numbered between seventy to eighty."
Anas used to demonstrate to us the prayer of the Prophet and while demonstrating, he used to raise his head from bowing and stand so long that we would say that he had forgotten (the prostration).
Anas said, "I will leave no stone unturned in making you offer the prayer as I have seen the Prophet making us offer it." Anas used to do a thing which I have not seen you doing. He used to stand after the bowing for such a long time that one would think that he had forgotten (the prostrations) and he used to sit in-between the prostrations so long that one would think that he had forgotten the second prostration.
The marriage of Zainab bint Jahash was mentioned in the presence of Anas and he said, "I did not see the Prophet giving a better banquet on marrying any of his wives than the one he gave on marrying Zainab. He then gave a banquet with one sheep."
I heard Ibn Az-Zubair delivering a sermon, saying, "Muhammad said, 'Whoever wears silk in this world, shall not wear it in the Hereafter.' "
Anas was asked whether the Prophet used a a hair dye or not. Anas replied, "The Prophet had not enough grey hair to dye. I could even count the white grey hairs of his beard if I would."
that he heard Anas saying, "A woman came to the Prophet offering herself to him in marriage, saying, 'Have you got any interest in me (i.e. would you like to marry me)?' " Anas's daughter said, "How shameless that woman was!" On that Anas said, "She is better than you, for she presented herself to Allah's Apostle (for marriage)."
I was with Anas while his daughter was present with him. Anas said, "A woman came to Allah's Apostle and presented herself to him, saying, 'O Allah's Apostle, have you any need for me (i.e. would you like to marry me)?' " Thereupon Anas's daughter said, "What a shameless lady she was! Shame! Shame!" Anas said, "She was better than you; she had a liking for the Prophet so she presented herself for marriage to him."
Anas bin Malik was asked whether they disliked the cupping for a fasting person. He replied in the negative and said, "Only if it causes weakness."
Anas bin Malik said to a woman of his family, "Do you know such-and-such a woman?" She replied, "Yes." He said, "The Prophet passed by her while she was weeping over a grave, and he said to her, 'Be afraid of Allah and be patient.' The woman said (to the Prophet). 'Go away from me, for you do not know my calamity.' " Anas added, "The Prophet left her and proceeded. A man passed by her and asked her, 'What has Allah's Apostle said to you?' She replied, 'I did not recognize him.' The man said, 'He was Allah's Apostle.' " Anas added, "So that woman came to the gate of the Prophet and she did not find a gate-keeper there, and she said, 'O Allah's Apostle! By Allah! I did not recognize you!' The Prophet said, 'No doubt, patience is at the first stroke of a calamity.' "
The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, "Whoever intentionally swears falsely by a religion other than Islam, then he is what he has said, (e.g. if he says, 'If such thing is not true then I am a Jew,' he is really a Jew). And whoever commits suicide with piece of iron will be punished with the same piece of iron in the Hell Fire." Narrated Jundab the Prophet said, "A man was inflicted with wounds and he committed suicide, and so Allah said: My slave has caused death on himself hurriedly, so I forbid Paradise for him."

who was one of the companions who gave the pledge of allegiance to the Prophet underneath the tree (Al-Hudaibiya) Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever swears by a religion other than Islam (i.e. if somebody swears by saying that he is a non-Muslim e.g., a Jew or a Christian, etc.) in case he is telling a lie, he is really so if his oath is false, and a person is not bound to fulfill a vow about a thing which he does not possess. And if somebody commits suicide with anything in this world, he will be tortured with that very thing on the Day of Resurrection. And if somebody curses a believer, then his sin will be as if he murdered him. And whoever accuses a believer of Kufr (disbelief), then it is as if he killed him."
The Prophet said, "Whoever swears by a religion other than Islam (i.e. if he swears by saying that he is a non-Muslim in case he is telling a lie), then he is as he says if his oath is false and whoever commits suicide with something, will be punished with the same thing in the (Hell) fire, and cursing a believer is like murdering him, and whoever accuses a believer of disbelief, then it is as if he had killed him."
The Prophet said, "Whoever swears by a religion other than Islam, is, as he says; and whoever commits suicide with something, will be punished with the same thing in the (Hell) Fire; and cursing a believer is like murdering him; and whoever accuses a believer of disbelief, then it is as if he had killed him."
A woman called Umm Khallad came to the Prophet (peace be uponhim) while she was veiled. She was searching for her son who hadbeen killed (in the battle) Some of the Companions of the Prophet(peace be upon him) said to her: You have come here asking foryour son while veiling your face? She said: If I am afflictedwith the loss of my son, I shall not suffer the loss of mymodesty. The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) said: You willget the reward of two martyrs for your son. She asked: Why isthat so, Apostle of Allah? He replied: Because the people of theBook have killed him.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) entered upon Thabit ibnQays. The version of Ahmad (ibn Salih) has: When he was ill He(the Prophet) said: Remove the harm, O Lord of men, from Thabitibn Qays ibn Shammas. He then took some dust of Bathan, and putit in a bowel, and then mixed it with water and blew in it, andpoured it on him.
We were in an army with the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him).We got some lizards. I roasted one lizard and brought it to theApostle of Allah (peace be upon him) and placed it before him. Hetook a stick and counted its fingers. He then said: A group fromthe children of Isra'il was transformed into an animal of theland, and I do not know which animal it was. He did not eat itnor did he forbid (its eating).
In the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him) a man took a vowto slaughter a camel at Buwanah. So he came to the Prophet (peacebe upon him) and said: I have taken a vow to sacrifice a camel atBuwanah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: Did the placecontain any idol worshipped in pre-Islamic times? They (thepeople) said: No. He asked: Was any pre-Islamic festival observedthere? They replied: No. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:Fulfil your vow, for a vow to do an act of disobedience to Allahmust not be fulfilled, neither must one do something over which ahuman being has no control.
Umar bin Al-Khattab distributed some garments amongst the women of Medina. One good garment remained, and one of those present with him said, "O chief of the believers! Give this garment to your wife, the (grand) daughter of Allah's Apostle." They meant Um Kulthum, the daughter of Ali. Umar said, "Um Salit has more right (to have it)." Um Salit was amongst those Ansari women who had given the pledge of allegiance to Allah's Apostle. Umar said, "She (i.e. Um Salit) used to carry the water skins for us on the day of Uhud."
'Umar bin Al-Khattab distributed woolen clothes amongst some women of Medina, and a nice woolen garment remained. Some of those who were sitting with him, said, "O chief of the believers! Give it to the daughter of Allah's Apostle who is with you," and by that, they meant Um Kulthum, the daughter of 'Ali. 'Umar said, "Um Salit has got more right than she." Um Salit was amongst those Ansari women who had given the pledge of allegiance to Allah's Apostle. 'Umar added, "She (i.e. Um Salit) used to carry the filled water skins for us on the day of the battle of Uhud."
When Qais bin Sad Al-Ansari, who used to carry the flag of the Prophet, intended to perform Hajj, he combed his hair.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: A man who cupped and a man who has himself cupped broke their fast. The narrator Shaybansaid in his version: AbuQilabah told me that AbuAsma' ar-Rahbitold him that Thawban, the client of the Apostle of Allah (peacebe upon him), told him that he heard the Prophet (peace be uponhim) say this.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If any woman asks herhusband for divorce without some strong reason, the odour ofParadise will be forbidden to her.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: For each forgetfulnessthere are two prostrations after giving the salutation. No oneexcept Amr (ibn Uthman) mentioned the words "from his father" (inthe chain AbdurRahman ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr from Thawban).
Shurayh ibn Ubayd said: Jubayr ibn Nufayr gave me a verdict aboutthe bath because of sexual defilement that Thawban reported tothem that they asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) about it. He(the Prophet) replied: As regards man, he should undo the hair ofhis head and wash it until the water should reach the roots ofthe hair. But there is no harm if the woman does not undo it (herhair) and pour three handfuls of water over her head.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) sent out anexpedition. They were affected by cold. When they returned to theMessenger of Allah (peace be upon him), he commanded them to wipeover turbans and stockings.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Three things oneis not allowed to do: supplicating Allah specifically for himselfand ignoring others while leading people in prayer; if he did so,he deceived them; looking inside a house before takingpermission: if he did so, it is as if he entered the house,saying prayer while one is feeling the call of nature until oneeases oneself.
An animal was brought to the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him)while he was going with a funeral. He refused to ride on it. Whenthe funeral was away, the animal was brought to him and he rodeon it. He was asked about it. He said: The angels were on theirfeet. I was not to ride while they were walking. When they wentaway, I rode.
When the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) went on a journey,the last member of his family he saw was Fatimah, and the firsthe visited on his return was Fatimah. Once when he returned froman expedition she had hung up a hair-cloth, or a curtain, at herdoor, and adorned al-Hasan and al-Husayn with silver bracelets.So when he arrived, he did not enter. Thinking that he had beenprevented from entering by what he had seen, she tore down thecurtain, unfastened the bracelets from the boys and cut them off. They went weeping to the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him),and when he had taken them from them, he said: Take this to soand so's family. Thawban. In Medina, these are my family, and Idid not like them to enjoy their good things in the present life.Buy Fatimah a necklace or asb, Thawban, and two ivory bracelets.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The people will soon summonone another to attack you as people when eating invite others toshare their dish. Someone asked: Will that be because of oursmall numbers at that time? He replied: No, you will be numerousat that time: but you will be scum and rubbish like that carrieddown by a torrent, and Allah will take fear of you from thebreasts of your enemy and last enervation into your hearts. Someone asked: What is wahn (enervation). Apostle of Allah (peacebe upon him): He replied: Love of the world and dislike of death.
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, Adhere to righteousness which you will not be able to do completely, bear in mind that the best act (amongst your deeds) is the prayer, and no one is so much particular about ablution but a believer.

Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: Staying awake is a strain and burden, so when one of you observes a Witr he should observe two rak'ahs. If he gets up in the night (to observe Tahajjud prayer well and good) otherwise these two will suffice for him.
Darimi transmitted it.
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "When one of you has an attack of fever the fever is a portion of Hell, so he should quench it with water, bathing in a flowing stream facing the direction of the current and saying, 'In the name of Allah, O Allah, heal Thy servant and verify Thy Messenger' after the morning prayer before sunrise. He should dip himself in it three times a day for three days, and if he is not cured in three days, then for five days, and if he is not cured in five days, then for seven, and if he is not cured in seven days, then for nine, for it will hardly last more than nine days by the permission of Allah, Who is Great and Glorious."
Tirmidhi transmitted it, saying this is a gharib tradition.
Thawban told how when they went out with the Prophet (peace be upon him) to a funeral he saw some people riding and said, "Are you not ashamed? Allah's angels are on their feet, while you are on the backs of animals."
Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it, and AbuDawud transmitted something similar. Tirmidhi said it has been transmitted from Thawban in mawquf form.
When "And those who hoard gold and silver" came down they were with the Prophet (peace be upon him) on one of his journeys. One of his companions said, "It has come down about gold and silver. Would that we knew which property is best so that we might acquire it!" He replied, "The best property is a tongue which mentions Allah, a grateful heart, and a believing wife who helps a man with his faith."
Ahmad, Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it.
Thawban heard Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) say, "I would not give this verse for the whole world, 'My servants who have transgressed against their souls, do not despair....'" A man asked whether that included those who had associated partners with Allah, and after remaining silent for a time the Prophet said three times, "Yes, it includes even those who have associated partners with Allah'"
Ahmad transmitted it.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, When a servant seeks to please Allah and continues to do so, then Allah Who is Great and Glorious, says to Gabriel, "My servant so and so seeks to please Me, therefore My mercy has descended on him." Gabriel says, "Allah's mercy has descended on so and so," and the bearers of the Throne and those who are around them say it until the inhabitants of the seven heavens say it, after which it comes down to him on Earth."
Ahmad transmitted it.
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said that if any Muslim said three times evening and morning, "I am pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad as Prophet," Allah would certainly please him on the Day of Resurrection.
Ahmad and Tirmidhi transmitted it.
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "If anyone dies free from pride, unfaithfulness regarding spoil, and debt, he will enter Paradise."
Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah and Darimi transmitted it.
Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: "Only supplication averts the decree, only kindness prolongs life, and a man is deprived of provision for a fault he commits."
Transmitted by Ibn Majah.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "My reservoir is like the distance between Aden and Amman in al-Balqa'. Its water is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey, and its cups are as numerous as the stars in the sky. He who takes one drink of it will never thirst thereafter. The first to come down to it will be the poor emigrants, those with dishevelled heads and dirty clothes, who do not marry delicate women and do not have doors opened for them."
Ahmad, Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah transmitted it, Tirmidhi saying this is a gharib tradition.
Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace be uponhim) said: While I was standing beside the Messenger of Allah(peace be upon him) one of the rabbis of the Jews came and said:Peace be upon you, O Muhammad. I pushed him back so hard that henearly fell over. Upon this he said: Why do you push me? Isaid: Why don't you say: O Messenger of Allah?The Jew said: Wecall him by the name which he was given by his family.TheMessenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: My name is Muhammad,which is how I was named by my family.The Jew said: I have cometo ask you (something). The Messenger of Allah (peace be uponhim) said: Will it be of any benefit to you, if I tell you that? He (the Jew) said: I shall lend my ears to it.The Messenger ofAllah (peace be upon him) drew a line with the help of the stickthat he had with him and then said: Ask (whatever you like). Thereupon the Jew said: Where will the human beings be on the Daywhen the Earth changes into another earth and the Heavens too(change into other heavens)? The Messenger of Allah (p). said:They will be in darkness beside the bridge. He (the Jew) againsaid: Who amongst the people will be the first to cross (thisbridge)? He said: They would be the poor amongst the refugees. The Jew said: What would constitute their breakfast when theywould enter Paradise? He (the Holy Prophet) replied: A caul offish-liver. He (the Jew) said: What would be their food afterthis? He (the Holy Prophet) said: a bullock which was fed in thedifferent quarters of Paradise would be slaughtered for them. He(the Jew) said: What would be their drink? He (the Holy Prophet)said: They would be given a drink from the fountain which isnamed Salsabil. He (the Jew) said: I have come to ask you aboutsomething which no one amongst the people on Earth knows exceptan apostle or one or two men besides him. He (the Holy Prophet)said: Would it benefit you if I tell you that?He (the Jew)said: I would lend my ears to that. He then said: I have come toask you about the child. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Thereproductive substance of a man is white and that of a woman(i.e. ovum central portion) is yellow. When they have sexualintercourse and the male's substance (chromosomes and genes)prevails upon the female's substance (chromosomes and genes), itis the male child that is created by Allah's Decree. When thesubstance of the female prevails upon the substance contributedby the male, a female child is formed by the Decree of Allah. The Jew said: What you have said is true; verily you are anApostle. He then turned round and went away. The Messenger ofAllah (peace be upon him) said: He asked me about such and suchthings of which I had no knowledge until Allah gave it to me.
Ma'dan ibn Talhah reported: I met Thawban, the freed slave ofAllah's Messenger (peace be upon him), and asked him to tell meabout an act for which, if I do it, Allah will admit me toParadise, or I asked about the act which was loved most by Allah.He gave no reply. I again asked and he gave no reply. I asked himfor the third time, and he said: I asked Allah's Apostle (peacebe upon him) about that and he said: Make frequent prostrationsbefore Allah, for you will not make one prostration withoutraising you a degree because of it, and removing a sin from you,because of it. Ma'dan said that then he met AbudDarda and when heasked him, he received a reply similar to that given by Thawban.
When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) finished hisprayer, he begged forgiveness three times and said: O Allah! Thouart Peace, and peace comes from Thee; Blessed art Thou, Opossessor of Glory and Honour. Walid reported: I said to Awza'i:How is the seeking of forgiveness? He replied: You should say: "Ibeg forgiveness from Allah, I beg forgiveness from Allah."
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him ) said: He who offeredprayer for the dead, for him is the reward of one qirat, and hewho attended its burial, he would have two qirats as his reward.And qirat is equivalent to Uhud.
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: The most excellentdinar is one that a person spends on his companions in Allah'spath. AbuQilabah (one of the narrators) said: He (the narrator)started with family, and then AbuQilabah said: Who is the personwith greater reward than a person who spends on young members ofhis family (and thus preserves (saves them from want) (and byvirtue of which) Allah brings profit for them and makes themrich.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: A group ofpeople from my Ummah will always remain triumphant on the rightpath and continue to be triumphant (against their opponents). Hewho deserts them shall not be able to do them any harm. They willremain in this position until Allah's Command is executed (i.e.Qayamah is established). In Qutaybah's version of the tradition,we do not have the words: "They will remain in this position."
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) slaughtered his sacrificialanimal and then said: Thawban, make his meat usable (forjourney), and I continuously served him that until he arrived inMedina.
Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: The one who visits thesick is in fact like one who is in the fruit garden of Paradiseso long as he does not return.
Allah's Apostle (peace be upon him) said: Allah drew the ends ofthe world together for my sake. I have seen its eastern andwestern ends. The dominion of my Ummah will reach those endswhich have been drawn together near me and I have been grantedthe red and the white treasures. I begged my Lord that my Ummahshould not be destroyed by famine, nor be dominated by a foreignenemy who will take their lives and destroy them root and branch. My Lord said: Muhammad, whenever I make a decision, there isnone to change it. Well, I grant you that your Ummah will not bedestroyed by famine, nor will it be dominated by a foreign enemywho will take their lives and destroy them root and branch, evenif all the people from the different parts of the world joinhands together (for this purpose). However, it will be fromamongst them, viz. your Ummah, that some people will kill orimprison the others.
The Prophet set up the ballista when attacking the people of at-Ta'if.
Tirmidhi transmitted it in mursal form.
I did not memorise (Surah) Qaf but from the mouth of theMessenger of Allah (peace be upon him) as he used to deliver thesermon along with it on every Friday. She also added: Our ovenand that of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was one.
I was a boy. I used to throw stones at the palm-trees of theAnsar. So I was brought to the Prophet (peace be upon him) whosaid: O boy, why do you throw stones at the palm-trees? I said:eat (dates). He said: Do not throw stones at the palm trees, buteat what falls beneath them. He then wiped his head and said: OAllah, fill his belly.
Anas said, "Um Sulaim used to spread a leather sheet for the Prophet and he used to take a midday nap on that leather sheet at her home." Anas added, "When the Prophet had slept, she would take some of his sweat and hair and collect it (the sweat) in a bottle and then mix it with Suk (a kind of perfume) while he was still sleeping." When the death of Anas bin Malik approached, he advised that some of that Suk be mixed with his Hanut (perfume for embalming the dead body), and it was mixed with his Hanut.
Anas used to breathe twice or thrice in the vessel (while drinking) and used to say that the Prophet used to take three breaths while drinking.
Anas never used to refuse (a gift of) scent and used to say that the Prophet never used to refuse (a gift of) scent.
