The Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him), dislikedshouting while fighting.
In the time of the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) we usedto be called brokers, but the Prophet (peace be upon him) cameupon us one day, and called us by a better name than that,saying: O company of merchants, unprofitable speech and swearingtakes place in business dealings, so mix it with sadaqah (alms).
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) saw a person prayingafter the congregational prayer at dawn was over. The Apostle ofAllah (peace be upon him) said: There are two rak'ahs of the dawnprayer (i.e. the prescribed rak'ahs). The man replied: I did notpray the two rak'ahs before the dawn prayer. Hence I offered themnow. The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) kept silent.
I came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) with the intention ofembracing Islam. He commanded me to take a bath with water(boiled with) the leaves of the lote-tree.
I went to al-Hirah and saw them (the people) prostratingthemselves before a satrap of theirs, so I said: The Apostle ofAllah (peace be upon him) has most right to have prostration madebefore him. When I came to the Prophet (peace be upon him), Isaid: I went to al-Hirah and saw them prostrating themselvesbefore a satrap of theirs, but you have most right, Apostle ofAllah, to have (people) prostrating themselves before you. Hesaid: Tell me , if you were to pass my grave, would you prostrateyourself before it? I said: No. He then said: Do not do so. If Iwere to command anyone to make prostration before another I wouldcommand women to prostrate themselves before their husbands,because of the special right over them given to husbands byAllah.
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) came to visit us in ourhouse, and said: "Peace and Allah's mercy be upon him you!
The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) came to visit us in ourhouse, and said: Peace and Allah's mercy be upon you! Sa'dreturned the greeting in a lower tone.Qays said: I said: Do younot grant permission to the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him)to enter? He said: Leave him, he will give us many greetings. The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) then said: Peace andAllah's mercy be upon you! Sa'd again responded in a lower tone.The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) again said: Peace andAllah's mercy be upon you! So the Apostle of Allah (peace be uponhim) went away. Sa'd went after him and said: Apostle of Allah!I heard your greetings and responded in a lower tone so that youmight give us many greetings. The Apostle of Allah (peace be uponhim) returned with him. Sa'd then offered to prepare bath-waterfor him, and he took a bath. He then gave him a long wrapper dyedwith saffron or wars and he wrapped himself in it. The Apostleof Allah (peace be upon him) then raised his hands and said: OAllah, bestow Thy blessings and mercy on the family of Sa'd ibnUbadah! The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) then sharedtheir meals. When he intended to return, Sa'd brought near himan ass which was covered with a blanket. The Apostle of Allah(peace be upon him) mounted it. Sa'd said: O Qays, accompany theApostle of Allah. Qays said: The Apostle of Allah (peace be uponhim) said to me: Ride. But I refused. He again said: Either rideor go away. He said: So I went away. Hisham said: AbuMarwan(transmitted) from Muhammad ibn AbdurRahman ibn As'ad ibnZurarah.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Do not drink from hollowedstumps, vessel smeared with pitch, pumpkins, and green jars, butdrink from a skin which is tied with string. If the drinkferments, lighten it by infusing water. If you are helpless, thenpour it away.
(freed slave of) Ziyad: I heard Abu Said Al-khudri narrating four things from the Prophet and I appreciated them very much. He said, conveying the words of the Prophet.
(1) "A woman should not go on a two day journey except with her husband or a Dhi-Mahram.
(2) No fasting is permissible on two days: 'Id-ul-Fitr and 'Id-ul-Adha.
(3) No prayer after two prayers, i.e. after the Fajr prayer till the sunrises and after the 'Asr prayer till the sun sets.
(4) Do not prepare yourself for a journey except to three Mosques, i.e. Al-Masjid-Al-Haram, the Mosque of Aqsa (Jerusalem) and my Mosque."
Abu Said who participated in twelve Ghazawat with the Prophet said, "I heard four things from Allah's Apostle (or I narrate them from the Prophet ) which won my admiration and appreciation. They are:
Qudamah saw Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) running between as-Safa and al-Marwah on a camel without striking it, or driving people away, or telling them to move aside.
It is transmitted in Sharh as-Sunnah.
Qudamah saw the Prophet throwing pebbles at the jamrah on the day of sacrifice while on a reddish she-camel, and there was no striking, or driving, or telling people to get out of the way.
Shafi'i, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i, Ibn Majah and Darimi transmitted it.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If anyone omits the Fridayprayer without excuse, he must give one dirham or half a dirham,or one sa' or half a sa' of wheat, in alms.
Once he waited for Al-Hasan and he did not show up till it was about the usual time for him to start his speech; then he came and apologized saying, "Our neighbors invited us." Then he added, "Narrated Anas, 'Once we waited for the Prophet till it was midnight or about midnight. He came and led the prayer, and after finishing it, he addressed us and said, "All the people prayed and then slept and you had been in prayer as long as you were waiting for it." ' " Al-Hasan said, "The people are regarded as performing good deeds as long as they are waiting for doing good deeds." Al-Hasan's statement is a portion of Anas's Hadith from the Prophet.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked a man who used to come to him along with a son of his, whether he loved his son, and the man replied, "Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), may Allah love you as I love him." The Prophet (peace be upon him) missed him, and on enquiring what had happened to so and so's son he was told that he had died. Thereupon he said, "Would you not like to find him waiting for him for you no matter to which gate of Paradise you came?" A man asked whether that applied particularly to him, or to all of them, and he told him that it applied to them all.
Ahmad transmitted it.
I came to the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) with a companyof Muzaynah and we swore allegiance to him. The buttons of hisshirt were open. I swore allegiance to him and I put my handinside the collar of his shirt and felt the seal. Urwah said: Ialways saw Mu'awiyah and his son opening their buttons of thecollar during winter and summer. They never closed their buttons.
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "When the Syrians become corrupt there will be good in you, but a section of my people will continue to be helped, not being injured by those who desert them, till the last hour comes."
Tirmidhi transmitted it, saying this is a hasan sahih tradition.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say, "O Allah, I seek refuge in Thee from objectionable characteristics, deeds and passions."
Tirmidhi transmitted it.
I said prayer and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) ledit and he recited "Qaf. (50): By the glorious Qur'an," till herecited "and the tall palm trees" (50:10). I wanted to repeat itbut I could not follow its significance.
I heard Abu Said saying four words. He said, "I heard the Prophet (saying the following narrative)." He had participated in twelve holy battles with the Prophet.
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Do not set out on a journey except for three Mosques, i.e. Al-Masjid-Al-Haram, the Mosque of Allah's Apostle, and the Mosque of Al-Aqsa (Mosque of Jerusalem)."
