Asim ibn Kulayb quoted his father's authority for the followingstatement by one of the Ansar: We went out with the Apostle ofAllah (peace be upon him) to a funeral, and I saw the Apostle ofAllah (peace be upon him) at the grave giving this instruction tothe grave-digger: Make it wide on the side of his feet, and makeit wide on the side of his head. When he came back, he wasreceived by a man who conveyed an invitation from a woman. So hecame (to her), to it food was brought, and he put his hand (i.e.took a morsel in his hand); the people did the same and they ate.Our fathers noticed that the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him)was moving a morsel around his mouth. He then said: I find theflesh of a sheep which has been taken without its owner'spermission. The woman sent a message to say: Apostle of Allah, Isent (someone) to an-Naqi' to have a sheep bought for me, butthere was none; so I sent (a message) to my neighbour who hadbought a sheep, asking him to send it to me for the price (he hadpaid), but he could not be found. I, therefore, sent (a message)to his wife and she sent it to me. The Apostle of Allah (peacebe upon him) said: Give this food to the prisoners.
Al-Qasim, the client of AbdurRahman, quoted one of the Companionof the Prophet (peace be upon him) as saying: We would eat acamel on an expedition without dividing it, and when we returnedto our dwellings our saddle-bags would be full with its flesh.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Let the Abyssinians aloneas long as they let you alone, and let the Turks alone as long asthey leave you alone.
Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "Syria will be conquered, and when you are given your choice of places in which to settle go to a city called Damascus, for it will be the fortress of the Muslims to protect them in the wars during which it will be a place of assembly. In its neighbourhood there is some land called al-Ghutah."

When we were sitting together, Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) appeared with a trace of water on his head, and when we told him that he appeared to us to be in a happy frame of mind, he agreed. The people then began to discuss wealth and Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "There is no harm in wealth for him who fears Allah, Who is Great and Glorious, but for him who fears Allah health is better than wealth, and a happy frame of mind is one of Allah's favours."

Hunaydah ibn Khalid narrated from his wife on the authority ofone of the wives of the Prophet (peace be upon him) who said: TheApostle of Allah (peace be upon him) used to fast the first ninedays of Dhul-Hijjah, Ashura' and three days of every month, thatis, the first Monday (of the month) and Thursday.
